Bundle dying by Dove & Myrtle.
There are many ways to naturally dye fabrics for creative projects or to refresh a much loved garment or faded cushion slip and one of our favourite methods is botanical bundle dyeing. Relatively new, bundle dyeing is the process of using natural materials such as petals, flowers, leaves and vegetable matter to imprint the hues and patterns of nature onto fabric. With a little practice, know how and experimenting, it’s possible to to create the most beautiful colours and effects.
We are in love with this sustainable Spanish brand influenced by the environment, tradition art, architecture & antique jewellery from a time gone by.Designer and maker Gema founded her brand in Madrid in 2014 whilst working as museum and exhibition architect. Her background is evident in the timeless pieces she creates taking influence from the La Mancha countryside, and developed with a sculptural will.
Makers Month.
Our October Maker of the Month is our Studio 50 neighbour and friend, Dove & Myrtle. Dove & Myrtle is a luxury bespoke studio florist specialising in romantic and joyful garden style florals for weddings and events throughout Sussex. Alongside her bespoke wedding work, over the last few years, founder Jane has fallen head over heels in love again with dried flowers so once the wedding season starts to slow down around the start of autumn, her studio becomes a hive of activity as she starts weaving wreaths from all the flowers, seed pods and grasses collected, saved and dried throughout the year.

The start of each new season is always exciting for us but we absolutely love autumn dressing.Textures become rich and the colour palette darkens as we transition into cooler days. We are so pleased to have Danish designer Henrik Vibskov under our woven umbrella this season; interesting silhouettes and fabrics, many of which are recycled. We feel this brand adds something to our mix and pushes the boundaries for us.
summer holiday capsule wardrobe.
From my own experience we generally tend to get less use from our high summer clothing due to the climate here in the UK, instead getting more repeat wear from past summer buys.Of course this does mean that we can make our seasonal garments work hard for us each year; something we strongly believe in.That said, it is always nice to buy a few well chosen items to fill gaps or lift our existing selection. There are certain items that will need replacing such as good T-shirt or vest styles which are always good to identify in the Spring so you can start looking for what you actually need well in advance to ensure you get your size.
