Just because the Christmas party season is now upon us doesn't mean we have to rush to the stores and buy loads of sparkly sequins and items that won't get worn enough, instead look to your wardrobe for items that can be styled for different occasions in a low key but dressy way.

For me this is often digging into my accessories box and pulling out some old jewellery pieces. You can generally use an item you already own and wear it with a nod to current seasonal trends if that's your thing.

September Makers month - Nicola Gillis.

We are big pottery & ceramic fans here at woven and couldn't be happier to be showcasing this brand.
 
Nicola Gillis lives in Brighton and works from her garden studio. Her tableware invites you to be mindful of each of our daily eating and drinking rituals by focusing on the vessels that we use, what we see, what we share, what we hold and touch.  Understanding the value of handmade pieces from which to eat and drink, her pieces have been described as earthy, warm and tactile. 

As the great British summer nears its end we welcome our favourite season at woven…autumn.

As always our garments are easy to wear for everyday, making getting dressed easy and helping you get the most from the items you buy.

We have found a couple of new brands for you; Muku a sustainable brand from Lithuania heralding simple designs crafted using expertly woven natural fibres. Crossley from Italy for its’ perfect trouser styles in denim, canvas and soft cord. Making a return is one of our favourite brands Vic + Bert from Australia with perfectly designed basics and drop crotch pants which we love. We are so excited to have the incredible Spanish show brand Chie Mihara in store to ensure you are well shod this winter. We have picked our own colours colours and leather finishes to fit in with our edit. Coming back to us is LA brand Amente with some really cool patchwork coats, jackets and waistcoats.

We are constantly evaluating our store and its purpose within the fashion retail industry and how we can make our customers experience stand out. The industry has seen some dramatic changes over the last 5 years with the pandemic being in the mix shifting shoppers to online purchasers and forcing store closures through the UK.

Nailing a good shape in trousers can be tricky and one of the hardest garments to find as all brands cut and size is so variable. With stores also selling brands from overseas throwing more sizing differences into the mix as these brands tend to design for the general shape/size of their country.
We’ve selected styles that are easy to wear, comfortable and well-cut. During the warmer months crunchy cotton fabrics tend to be cooler to wear than linens and we love the texture to create interest in a basic item.

makers month, June. Sarah Deere-Hall

I am somewhat of a magpie when it comes to ceramics & pottery, leaning towards the more simple designs that just seem to sing and of course, how these pieces feel in the hands when held. I can always seem to justify adding a beautiful bowl or adding a beaker to my ever growing collection.

Sarah Deere-Hall, our new maker for June has created some stunning pieces for us to showcase in-store and we couldn't be more happy with how her collection fits with our style at woven store.

We are beyond excited to finally have this beautiful brand on board at Woven Store. Having bought elsewhere over the years we truly have a tried and tested approach to the styles we have selected for this season. Quality and comfort are at the heart of this Japanese label that resides in LA, style shape and form give the clothing a cool edge.

Introducing Matthew Hall, wood turner.
 
 
Bowls, dishes, platters, and plates are at the core of Matt’s work, as is his love of the warm and tactile nature of wood.
 
His focus is on creating individual pieces with utility and beauty, although several forms and finishes have emerged as firm favourites with strong, graceful curves.
