The story of Hannoh.
in News
Originally born in Germany, Hanno Wessel studied fashion at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris and went on to work in haute couture for a number of years before eventually launching on his own label in1994. The first collection was a runaway success with both fashion press and buyers selling into shops that included Henri Bendel NY, Galeries Lafayette and IF Soho.
In 2015 Hannoh Wessel founded a company alongside luxury manufacturers in Italy to produce and distribute his new brand H + Hannoh Wessel. The designer himself now counts Italy as his second home alongside Paris and designing in such close proximity to his skilled artisan production team ensures an incredibly high standard to the finished pieces which have a sense of utility, an almost Japanese aesthetic.
The Hannoh signature style is unique and instantly recognisable. The cut is generous yet minimal and not too tidy with stand out detailing such as raw finished hemlines and a flash of scarlet stitching synonymous with the designer. Using the best quality natural and sustainable materials Hannoh creates garments that combine feminine and masculine inspirations, resulting every time in collections that are both modern and timeless. These garments are investment pieces, designed to be worn and loved for years to come. Slow fashion at its absolute best.
No wonder then that the brand has several famous clients, each with a timeless and effortless style of their own: Charlotte Rampling, Audrey Tatou, Vanessa Paradis and Jane Birkin.
We always feature a Hannoh coat as a key piece when buying in the Woven collections. No seasons buy is complete without one and this summer we have chosen a stunning crinkle bubble coat in chalk complete with drop hem and that red stitch button detailing we love so much. Easy to style with pretty much anything in the wardrobe and especially for us, denim and a classic white Tee.
H+ Hannoh Wessel is now sold in around 120 shops worldwide yet is still fairly new to the UK and we’ve seen an incredibly loyal customer base grow rapidly since we first introduced the brand here. Once you know you know!
In 2017 opened its own two stand alone stores. One in St Germain, Paris and the other in Brooklyn, New York.
