For our Autumn/Winter ’19 shoot we took along the coast on a sunny Sunday to the lovely Old Town area of Hastings.

High on the cliff you’ll see the ruins of the castle looking over the towns three mile shingle beach; which is where we shot our Autumn Edit. The iconic fishing huts were clad in wood and painted black provides the perfect backdrop for the new season. Many of the huts are still used by the many fishermen in the town and there is a small museum that tells the history of the little towns fishing industry. There is a lively bustle to this area steeped in history. Crazy golf and small funfair attractions sit next to the Hastings Contemporary gallery and museum.

Nestled back from the beach lies George Street; full of old charm and interesting, independent shops and cafes. A great friend of Woven, Rose, owns a beautiful double fronted store called Butlers Emporium where we were lucky enough to shoot the Winter Edit. Rose has mindfully kept all the original features of the building and set up amongst it, a treasure trove of clothing, gifts, homewares and original finds from her travels create a unique style.
Just around the corner you can find RESTE which sells amazing pottery, plants and lifestyle goods for the modern customer. The store is great to shop in and always has a cool window display.

Fish and chips are abundant along the beach but we also love to eat in a little cafe on George Street called Petit Fi which serves the tastiest homemade Kedgeree amongst other home-cooked dishes, just lovely!
You can also visit the caves by taking the West Hill lift through a tunnel of rock and explore the many caverns lying within.

A great British seaside town, well worth a visit.
